Today we took the morning and hug around town going to the farmers market and looking at the shops. It was really nice to relax and let Liam take a nice long nap. After everyone woke up from their naps we all headed out to a beautiful white sand beach. To get to Makalawena Beach you have to take this rough road and then hike 30 min across a lava field to the secluded beach. We were able to find a fun little cove for the kids to play in and although we didn’t really get into the water here we did have a great time playing on the beach in the sand. We also were able to find a Hawaiian Green sea turtle feeding about 3 feet away from us as the sun was setting. We added a little excitement to our adventure by not timing out departure very well and we had to hike across the lava field while it was dark and left the park 10 min before the gates were locked for the night. Whoever said adventure shouldn’t be part of a vacation should not vacation with the Fischer’s and Cruz’s.
